UCB
Where Character Matters

At UCB we are

Connected

We recognize our part in a complex and ever changing world, aware of the struggles and strengths of people near and far.

Inclusive

We are kind and respectful. Everyone is welcome and we share our passion and resilience with all who need it.

Thinkers

We are academically curious and aspire to achieve our full potential. We approach school and life with a sense of meaning and purpose. Ursuline students are empowered to learn through their choices.

Pioneers

We navigate the unknown with confidence and dare to be companions to new ideas, peoples, and places. We awake every day to a world that challenges us, and we challenge it back.

The UCB experience

What our students love

“I like how we have the houses like Hogwarts and we have inter-house competition”

“The teachers are all really nice and understanding and that the school is such a nice place to be. I enjoy activities like the newspaper and creative writing club”

“The teachers are brilliant and I love the interhouse competitions”

“The school has a good atmosphere. The teachers and students are kind and I liked how it was a small school. I also love the rowing!”

“Its a school with alot of opportunities on offer. I really enjoy the hockey.”

The students vs teachers hockey match was always a fun day but i must say my favourite memories are from normal school days where my friends and I would have a laugh over lunch and in class from time to time.

I learned to value the opinion of others around me. It also taught me that there is now way around hard work only to get through it. Both of these two life lessons are very important to me now in my working and personal life.

Enjoy your time in Ursulines. You are lucky to attend such a wonderful school with amazing facilities and great staff. Get involved in plenty and be open to being friends with everyone. Don’t be afraid to speak up in class and be active in your learning.

Medicine

My mother and my grandmother are former Ursulines. UCB also appealed to me when I went there on the open day as a primary school student. All my friends were also planning to go there also.

Following leaving cert (2017), I began studying law and business in UCC. I soon realised that this was not the right course for me. The same year I changed to biological and chemical sciences and completed first year of this. I then reapplied to UCC and began studying medicine. I graduated from medicine in May 2023. I got my first choice intern job and began my first rotation in Neurosurgery in CUH followed by Ophthalmology in the South Infirmary and currently I work as a rheumatology intern in UHK.
